Samba With Silvana!

All are welcome to learn some of the hottest dance moves from Brazil. Treat yourself to a fun dance experience that will introduce you to the basic footwork and rhythms of Brazilian samba.

Silvana Marquina has a background in samba, jazz, hip-hop, Afro-Brazilian dance and capoeira. Silvana performed with Ballet Stagium in Sao Paulo, Brazil and has won several awards for her choreography. She is featured in videos shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, has performed in TV programs broadcast on ABC, VH1 and WB11, and was highlighted in the movie “Rachel Getting Married”, directed by Jonathan Demme. In addition, Silvana has danced with many famous entertainers, including Jennifer Lopez, Aretha Franklin, Wyclef Jean, and the Brazilian pop singer Daniela Mercury. She is currently a choreographer for SOB’s in New York City and performs with her group Axé Brazil doing Carnival and Brazilian dance shows that demonstrate the diversity of Brazilian culture through dance and artistic expression.
