Visiting scholar Mary Olezkiewicz will explore the themes of love, protest, and exile, including a discussion of Tropicália, the movement in Brazilian popular music in the 1960s and 1970s, featuring a short performance/exhibition with guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan.

Many of them never get off the ground. Renowned political scientist Margaret E. Keck will discuss the process of policy of experimentation and new forms of participatory governance—which included state officials, academics and activists—that transformed the management of Brazil’s freshwater sector.

Find out more »This exhibition celebrates the pivotal contributions of Abdias Nascimento, a major political and artistic figure in Brazil and the African diaspora and a founder of Brazil's Black Movement. On view are forty artworks revolving around the theme of orixas, or mediators between heaven and earth in the possession and trance-based religion known as Candomblé. Throughout the exhibition, public programs with expert speakers will discuss and situate Nascimento's work in broader contexts
