Andrew Prokos, Photographer

Born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1971, Andrew Prokos grew up in South Florida where he graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Florida. He moved to New York City to attend graduate school, but decided not to pursue a career in politics and headed to Europe. Andrew spent two years living in Italy and Greece and traveling throughout the continent and Asia Minor, where he first took up photography, recording his continental travels along the way. Upon returning to New York City in 1996, Andrew entered the field of interactive advertising, where he worked as a freelance designer at Digitas and other ad agencies. He also began using medium and large-format cameras in pursuit of ever-higher quality for his long-exposure cityscapes and architectural scenes. Andrew turned to photography full-time in 2002, and has received commissions from a variety of clients, including architects, property developers, interior designers, ad agencies, and corporate clients.

Andrew’s work has been widely published in magazines and newspapers, including: Casa Vogue, Communication Arts, DesignBoom, Dezeen, Digital Photographer, Metropolis, Newsday, New York Post and PDN Edu. His photography has won awards at the International Photography Awards (Lucies), the Prix de la Photographie, Paris (Px3), the London International Creative Competition (LICC), and the Epson International Pano Awards, and has been exhibited at the Museum of the City of New York, the American Institute of Architects, and in numerous corporate fine art collections throughout the USA. Andrew is a participating member of the New York chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers. You can see more of his photography at http://andrewprokos.com.
